Climbed Ben Vorlich & Stuc a' Chrion on 6th of June '09 with Christine, Stu & John. The ascent up Ben vorlich is fairly quick, getting steeper at the end. Great views at the top. Stuc a' Chrion on the other hand is entirely different. Thoroughly enjoyed the scramble up the cliff face. Can be a little daunting looking up at it from the bottom, but is excellent fun if you give it a go. Great route.

Paul and I, in training for the WHW, decided to walk in from Callander, making it aprox 9 miles to the summit.THERES STILL NO BRIDGE! (642130)And it had hammered it down. If you have sticks, go upstream (E) about 0.25 of a mile, and on the opposite side of the river you will see a boulder about the size of a mini. This is where, with some delicate balancing, I crossed the river. Sadly, Paul went in (titter). Otherwise you are advised to cross 1.25 miles out of Callander, and go Xcountry from there. Sheppard told us the NT have threatened to put a bridge in soon, but he's not holding his breath

Climbed with Beinn Each from Glen Ample. Good paths exist from glen to summit, and between the two, but take care to stay on the crest of the knobbly ridge: you can easily be tempted downhill, but it's boggy and difficult. Returning to Glen Ample it's tiring to climb all those bumps again: a good path down to the Glen is needed, but I guess no-one has navigated one yet. I'd done Ben Vorlich with my son a few years ago so still had the Stuc to do, and enjoyed it as the southern approach is probably less-travelled but the country is worth exploring. Beinn Each is a fine hill in its own right.

An expensive Munro for me. After a good scramble through the snow I lost my rh crampon just after topping the scramble probably c 100 yards along the rising ridge on Friday 28 Nov 2008. I could not find it as we went to the cairn, came back and snow had filled our footsteps. If you miraculously find it a small reward is available!! davidpkadams@aol.com 07712659068

Attempted from the South ridge, Callander walk in. No bridge over river, and heavy flow after rain/snow. No possible crossing until 2 miles to West. A very long excursion! Not worth attempting crossing unless little rain/summer etc.

I had intended to use the path up, but having met Andrew and Hilary, he persuaded both of us to give the scramble route a try. I am very glad to have done this, as it was actually fairly straightforward with only a couple of awkward parts. Returned by the col to the west of Ben Vorlich and, realising I was short of time for getting home when I wanted to, ran down the rest of the path. Stuc a' Chroin combined with Ben Vorlich makes for a fine pair of hills.

Climbed as part of a double with Ben Vorlich. In my opinion superior to its higher neighbour in terms of challenge (the fun buttress ascent) and reward (the views from the top looking west to the Trossachs are simply divine).

July 2006 - Bridge still out at Loch Earn, so drove around the north shore to normal start (of Ben Vorlich), 20 mins diversion. A comment on the scramble up Stuc a'Chroin: It's about the easiest scrambling I've ever done, a steep walk really, but over some loose/steepish slopes. Possibly a different proposition in snow/ice though.

Alan Wilson advises us "that the bridge on the south loch earn road from the A84 is still 'gone' (ie...no longer intact after 2004 floods) so parking at usual place not possible unless travelling along south road from st fillans (at the east end of the loch) otherwise park on the west side of the creek and carefully cross over the rubble etc and walk to the hill access point..... adds time on of course... cheers" Thanks Alan!

Climbed with two friends on 17/06/05, approaching from the bealach having just climbed Ben Vorlich. The small boulder field at the base of the buttress caused no hassles. Having never done any scrambling before we were unsure of what to expect of the buttress but were pleasantly surprised. Hands and the occasional knee were necessary, but we reached the top without any major difficulty. A path avoiding the scramble was also clearly visible and could have been followed if difficulties occurred. Descended down south-east ridge. Note: the bridge south of Arivurichardich has been swept away.

Climbed up today with our friend who fell off it about five years ago (Jimmy). Was a great experience and was Jimmys first full return to the mountain since he got his helicoptor ride off it last time. What a fantastic mountain. If you get the views you are in for a treat (which we did). In fact, weather was perfect for a October morning. We had special treatment because we were allowed to park at the farm at the foot of the mountain (purely because one of Jimmys rescuers lived there). Advice - dont go that way because the bridges dont exist anymore due to recent flooding.

Walked by way of Ben Vorlich from Loch Earn. A great walk with a real mountain feel. The buttress to the summit is a fantastic scramble in the snow although some care is obviously required. Despite the usual poor visibility when our group go for a walk, this was a great a day out.
